Lately I've been reading really interesting stuff about Captains. Inspired by Mick and Jereliens great stuff I decided to write something about Hunters.

Hunters are often missunderstood and underestimated, but still the fact remains that if some class isn't needed in a fellowship it is hunter. Hunters do NOT have really so much useful skills for other members of the group unlike captains for example. Hunters can't heal other members, they can't give power to other members, they can't stun ...

Mick Thistlefield, a captain of Bree-land, an armourer extraordinaire, at your service.

I reached level 50 some time ago and since concentrated my efforts to crafting, books, traits and captains quests. Haven't seriously tried the monster play yet, as I thought that I should hone the character first and see what there is in PvE for high level char. Of course with the book 10 update there is alot more to try out, mainly the reputation ...

I have encountered an issue/bug in the Redhorn Lodes. When I have used Hedge in there I get stuck in combat and unless you can retreat somewhere you will end up dead. Relogging clears the fault but its obviously a pain in the ass.

I raised a ticket today and a GM contacted me in game, apparently this is a known issue and can happen with totems too. A GM can clear this in game but it would obviously take time.

For raiding/tough fs purposes, you are a support class. You cannot compare to the amount of damage that Champions and Hunters can output and you cannot approach the healing ability of a Minstrel. Your job revolves around the captain strengths of buffing, debuffing, background healing with some damage thrown in as time and opportunity allow. Think about the captain keeping his fellows rallied and in the battle rather than trying to grab the glory and you won’t go too far wrong.

When I started playing Lotro I thought burglar was the less needed character in the game. But when I started playing as a burglar, with my alt hobbit Fedegard Strongfoot of the Fallohides, I noticed burglars are useful as hell! It's a great fun to play with burglar, more tactical than with my hunter. You have to sneak behind enemy and strike and use many skills. With Lamaerahd it's like powpow dead. Burglars are quite good actually in solo playing, but burglar comes real handy in a fellowship. ...

Hey hos.

I know group fighting tactics have been discussed many times over on this forum, but coming back to the realm of middle-earth I was wondering how a somewhat typical scenario should be played. Especially from the point of view of crowd control.

Let's say for example's sake that we have a group of 6, with one of each classes excluding a burglar/captain (somewhat typical group). And we go for 2 melee elite-trolls and 2 ranged elite-bastards. How do we approach the situation? Keep ...

Cerras tuned up his lute and started playing a quiet, romantic melody. There was a girl sitting across the room, a very pretty lass of blonde hair, blue eyes and air of confidence and influence. She seemed to like the melody and Cerras sent in her direction one of his most charming smiles, adjusting the music a bit – so now the flowing melody seemed to question the girl… But she wasn’t alone, no..
I've decided to start this topic, because as a newbie in LOTRO I'd like to know more about other classes. But I am too lazy to read the forums (here or elsewhere) dedicated to specific classes. What I'd like to know is how certain classes can contribute to the team.

I was in a very effective group (and fun!) group yesterday, but there were some confusing moments when I feared an orc and it got attacked while others were pounding me to the ground and so on.

Hunters are usually refered to as "nukers", "dps", "dd", etc.

All this abreviations and nicks mean that they can deal an extreme amount of damage with every hit. Their ranged attack and big dmg gives them advantage, but they are quite fragile in close combat.

As the hunters use ranged attack most of the time, they have to be extremely careful what they shoot at. It happens very often that a hunter attacks a wrong creature by accident....this usually ends ...

Well, I and some others tried again to take Ivar down yesterday. To cut a long story short, we failed. Again. We tried couple of times as the days before and we always failed because first the minstrel died and then me.

However, no one seemed to care about protecting the minstrel. It always seemed to be that people expected me to tank Ivar.. which was hard enough and go around and fetch all mobs that attack the mninstrel... including ranged ones.

I mean, that is impossible. Ivar is a power ...

When the others came back they told that they had lost the fight and Lamaerahds father was captured by those nasty goblins. The fate of his father is unknown ...

I would like all of you guys to lay down your opinion on the most important Attributes for Hunters and the appropriate balance between them.

We all know from all MMORPG games that Agility is the most important, but what about Fate, Will, Might, etc....

Which would be the second most important, etc...

This would help us Hunters get a good look on your points of view and choose the best configuration for future.

Thanks,

The basic options for a 6-man group are familiar to most of you, namely

RRRRRB - Hew the Stone

RRRRRG - Roll the Drum

Positive thing about these is the relative easiness to execute, everyone just presses red and then one pre-assigned person (usually the minstrel) chooses the last one, based on what the fellowship needs at the time. Negative side on these is the fact that a partial conjunction just does the damage, but no other benefits. And if you're, let's say, in the middle of a group ...

Afterall, you don't just post the story about your life somewhere but rather speak to your friends privately when you see it fit into the situation. And RP wise it's alot nicer to learn your friends ingame anyways, allowing for a nice evening with a six-pack or two of your favorite ale while sitting at a lake during sunset.

Born in a secluded Elf enclave in Mirkwood, her parents were overprotective, fearing that the evil in the world might harm their precious daughter. They had lost a son years earlier who choose to fight rather than prepare himself to leave for the grey havens.

Mourning the downfall of the Elves, the parents were eager to leave Mirkwood and Middle Earth as soon as possible but delayed to try and convince their son to come with them.
