PostSubject: Tailla Starwind, Half-Elven   Tue Sep 18, 2007 10:59 pm

Tailla’s father, Freaghir Edwodyn, was a high ranking northman elder of the tribes located on the east side of Mirkwood. As such he frequently met with the elven people of Thranduil’s kingdom, most often to discuss trade but also coordinate patrols, share intelligence, etc.

During one visit to Mirkwood Freaghir met and fell in love with a Sindar noblewoman, Leor Starwind, and as their relationship flourished he settled in the elven realm. Freaghir acted as his tribe’s diplomatic emmisary to Thranduil. Leor soon became pregnant, which was hailed as the forging of an unbreakable bond between the two peoples and a symbol of their unity against the evils in the world, and so Tailla was born.

Tailla was initially raised in the elvish tradition. As she grew and matured Taila demonstrated a keen eye, a lithe physique, and a love for all things that nature had to offer and this was nutured by some of the best teachers in Thranduil’s court.

It was a happy childhood, until an event that caused her world to fall apart. During a diplomatic visit of the northmen to Mirkwood the tribal chief fell ill in the night following a banquet with Thranduil. After only a few hours he died, and arguments between the chief’s entourage and the elves resulted in accusations of poisoning being made against the elves.
These arguments escalated into a melee with several from both sides being wounded or killed. With great haste the Northmen sought to escape. Tailla’s father attempted to negotiate a safe passage for the remaining northmen but in their anger the elves cut him down as he stood in Thranduil’s court.

To the elves this was just one more example of the short-sightedness and rash actions of Men. All diplomatic relations with the Northmen were cut-off, and the Sindar closed ranks within their secure realm, just as they had done before. Any trade that they were forced into out of necessity was made with the peoples of Dale in the east.
It was not long before the eyes and gossip of the court turned to Leor and her daughter Tailla, who were now perceived as a messy remnant of the short lived alliance with the Men.

Taila exclududed from the royal academy because of her mixed blood and her mother was progressively excluded from the Sindar aristocracy.
Confused and adolescent, and still mourning the death of her father, Tailla became progressively alienated to the Sindar mentality to the point where she could take no more. She believed her mother regretted ever meeting Faerghir.

One night she secretly left the elven realm fleeing west to an uncertain future, seeking to leave and forget her Sindar heritage.

Dressed and acting as a Northman Tailla made her way towards and over the Misty Mountains, living from her surroundings and occasionally taking employment as a bodyguard for travelling trade convoys who needed a keen-eyed scout who was handy with a longbow.

One of those convoys was ambushed and nearly destroyed. Tailla fed into the wilds where she wandered, wounded and desperate until she was rescued by an elf – Ascarnil, who took her back to the refuge of the haven of Imladris.

Here it was that as she healed Tailla rediscovered what it is to be elven, and that the needs of the Free Peoples as a whole outweigh the sometimes bitter feuds between Elf, Man, Dwarf and Hobbit. It was also at this time that she chose her Sindar blood as her future and to join the ranks of the undying, swearing to fight evil in all its guises.

Now healed both in body and mind she took leave from the hospitality of Rivendel and struck out still further westward, having a desire to explore the Middle-Earth, and she journeyed in search of Lindon.

In appearance many perceive Tailla as human, although an extremely attractive one (which she often uses to her advantage). Only those with higher learning and experience of the elves can see that the blood of the Sindar flows strongly in her veins.

She is medium height for an elf, making her tall for a Northman, and slight of build.
Her hair is a light brown colour and she keeps it cropped at shoulder length so as not to interfere with her bowmanship.
Her dress varies, seeking as she does to blend in with the local populace, and as such her clothing is a mix of cultures. This generally marks her out as a ‘traveller’ but not one from a particular origin.

In her countenance she is outwardly variable, and apparently unpredictable. She can be cold as ice, or warm and welcoming.
Whilst her appearance is dominated by her human origin, her mentality is dominated by her Sindar genes. She is inwardly determined and loyal to trusted and proven parties. Careful and mistrustful to others.
She is somewhat manipulative, but subtle.
Not a natural leader but easily makes decisions concerning herself and her own well-being.
She has a thirst for knowledge, travel and new experiences.
Not avaricious, but appreciates treasure because it signifies success.
Outwardly modest but inwardly fiercely proud of herself and her people.
